Summer is very much upon us now and it’s almost holiday time for most South Africans. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good time to plan your building or renovation projects for 2021 now.

In fact, there are several advantages to it, apart from just the fact that summer is the best time to build, especially in the Cape with our inclement, wet winter conditions, which often lead to the slowing down and subsequent increased costs of projects.

Why is it a good time to plan now?

To begin with, this is not a thing to be taken lightly and often involves quite a lot of discussion amongst spouses and family before the builder even becomes a part of the planning. You now have some time during your holiday to discuss things properly without distractions and think about what you really need and want.

Secondly, although COVID-19 is still very much with us, at least construction is underway again and due to delays because of the pandemic the construction industry is making up for the lost time. It is important to get ahead in the queue for your project as soon as possible.

Thirdly, 2021 promises to be a good time for construction – interest rates are at their lowest, and buyers from the north, realising they can work from anywhere are finding the Cape to be an attractive proposition.

Finally, the pandemic has made many people realise they can work from home and so, home renovations, that include offices which can double as guest suites, are all the rage and can add enormous value to your property!
